Grade II Listed Cottage Windows
Initially the clients contacted me for a quotation to replace the rotted softwood windows with traditional balance weight & cord box sashes. I had to produce a condition report and a full detailed specification of the windows to be manufactured, in order to satisfy the local council planning and conservation officer. These windows were to be fitted with the latest ultra slim sealed units which are the only ones conservation officers will allow in listed properties!
Once planning was approved the windows were manufactured in European Oak, the ultra slim sealed units were then fitted and hand puttied in. The client now benefits from windows that are as near to the originals as possible but with the advantage of specialised sealed units, which reduce the energy loss by half compared to agricultural glass. The cottage still maintains its historical look and values, which you can see in the photos.
